I've been walking a long road toward wellness, since my body fell apart from chronic Lyme disease over 12 years ago. Since then, I've learned that becoming whole isn't just a matter of whacking some bugs with an antibiotic or eating organic salmon and salads. It's not just a matter of healing the daddy wounds or coming to grips with a lifelong story of rejection.

It's about finding a relationship of unconditional love with God, because it is love- not a doctor, herb or belief system- that ultimately heals the whole person. Yet God gives us answers to healing through holistic medicine, as well as by His supernatural hand.

Indeed, most of the focus of the books that I've written has been upon medicine, but I realize that it's time to share all that I have learned from God as I have walked through the dark valley of this past decade. This includes strategies that heal the heart and spirit, as well as the body.

My knowledge is based upon my belief that Jesus Christ still heals supernaturally today, and that spiritual healing is the highest level of healing that we can attain to. Spiritual health can make us completely well, but it is also noble and good to seek healing at the physical level.

The journey to wholeness is always a journey, as none of us ever completely arrives this side of Heaven, but we can enter into a place of relative health and peace, with joy as the centerpiece of our days. I'm not there, but I am not the same person I was a decade ago. May victory be upon your horizon as it has been upon mine...

Healing Body, Mind and Spirit with God and Medicine

If there's anything I'm known for, it's probably as a medical writer on Lyme disease. Indeed, three of my eight books are about Lyme disease. I wrote about Lyme disease for a long time because the disease caught me in its clenches and for years, I wanted nothing more to free myself and others from it.

I'm on a different path now, because God has expanded my vision to see myself and others healed, not only from the insidious hell of Lyme, but all that accompanies it, and the multiple systemic dysfunctions, toxins, heart-sickness and spiritual brokenness that many of us who have suffered from chronic illness have had to contend with.

Besides, as the title of this blog indicates, God has shown me that walking in wholeness is first and foremost, a matter of the spirit. Our spirits have been given charge over our souls and bodies, so when the spirit is well, the emotions and body often follow.

In this blog, I will be sharing what more than 12 years of suffering, experience, research and seeking God have taught me about healing- in the spiritual, emotional and physical realms.

Medical knowledge is helpful, but herbs, vitamins and hormones don't always get us to where we need to be. Neither does an awareness of our dysfunctional thought patterns or our practice of psychological principles or positive thinking. Sometimes, a first-hand encounter with Our Creator, or an embrace from a friend, to show us that we are unconditionally loved- are what will heal us more than any medical treatment.

But healing is a process, and the vitamins, herbs, counseling and whatnot are all essential pieces of the puzzle so that we can get to the next stage in our journey. Sometimes, it's the amino acids and hormones, for instance, that give us the mental power and motivation to be able to pray, but it's the communion with God that gives us hope, direction, purpose and ultimately the ability to heal, no matter the method or medicine that He uses.

Supernatural healing miracles rarely bring anyone to wholeness, because we still have to eat our peas and carrots, and walk in the ways of God's Spirit to be well- but miracles are for real and I believe that 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ became an atoning sacrifice for humanity, dying on a Cross so that we would have the opportunity to walk in greater freedom here on the earth. The Bible says that He came to earth to set the captives free, and it wasn't just from the captivity of death and sin, but also sickness.

As Isaiah prophesied in the Bible, many hundreds of years before Jesus came to earth, "By His Stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53-3-5). There is incredible power for healing in the Word of God- the Word being Jesus Christ and the Bible- as well as in a personal relationship with Him. But it's not about rules or religiosity- it's about knowing who He is for us, and how much He loves us, no matter our color or creed. In this blog, I hope you will taste the goodness of Jesus Christ, as you also benefit from what God has taught me about medicine and healing miracles. God bless and hope to "see" you here again soon.

  1. Great concept for a blog Connie. For those of us who believe in God it can get confusing when a major illness attacks. It is interesting that we are so programmed to head to the doctor as if he has all the answers. In our concerns about our physical health, we can easily forget about what God has said and take control on a purely physical level. In my 58 day stay in the hospital, I prayed for many people. Many of them cried and all of them were touched by the hand of God. It was the most amazing thing for me to lie in a bed and not be able to move but be used so wonderfully by God. In hospital settings and in health practitioners offices, God is often forgotten, but bring Him center stage and people will be touched. Thank you for living a life dependent upon Him for you inspire us! Blessings, Bill

  2. Connie:

Good luck with this blog. It is spot on. I have followed your writings as my family has recovered from serious Lyme disease. In the final analysis, healing at its root cause levels must include the spiritual dimension as this is who we are as human beings and spiritual beings. As you suggest, if we look closely at the actual ministry of Jesus, he taught, he healed and he delivered. And he encouraged the apostles and others to do so on all these three activities in His Name. Like you, our family discovered healing and deliverance were necessary for ultimate healing, and we are 100% well. Sadly, this is not the MEMO 98% of churches and 98% of doctors do not understand, so people are given partial solutions. Some make it out OK, some don't. But we have found great power in a full-on comprehensive integral approach to healing that includes addressing the spiritual root causes of illness.

I am glad you are adding testimony and voice to the blogsphere. This memo needs to get out there. People are suffering and solutions are available if you are willing to ask Him and eat your peas and carrots too!
